Varchesis Releases Second Life Link

Now you can see my Second Life character in all his glory. Second Life is a game I posted about a little bit ago (March 21st). Now, my avatar has his own blog. Lots of photos (thanx Flickr).

This fellow has some really awesome photos. He uses a very interesting style to achieve a soft vector-like effect. I love it.

Intelligent Buses?

How do you feel about a bus that operates intelligently without a driver?

Super cool? Yes.
Next generation? Yes.
Safe? Maybe. Depends on the traveling distance and changing circumstances.
Comforting? No. I worry about who is on the bus without at least the driver to give me that instant feeling of security.

Is it a better idea than the fuel cell bus?

For now? No. Fuel cells need to be developed now more than driver-less buses.
In the future? Maybe. Perhaps when we are advanced enough to uniformly move to fuel-cells we can have learn to use intelligent transportation. Although intelligent systems are creeping into our lives everyday, we may not be prepared to allow them to take over simple tasks such as driving.

Post a comment. I'd love to know what you think.

A Super Awesome Gamer Geek Site/Blog

Minna ni naisho dayo is only super awesome 'cause it's a glimpse of the Japanese gaming market with English reviews and insider info.

Penny Arcade - Devil May Cry 3: Easy Mode

Funny shite! I love it. Some of them are not so funny if you ain't a hard-core gamer, but what the hell! Read 'em anyway.

Oh, dear. I just admitted to liking the geekiest comic-strip ever. Oh, wait... is Dilbert still in production?

Cartoon Network | Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends

I love the art from this Cartoon network show, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends.

It reminds me of the super-cool read-along record-books I had as a kid. The art in those books was amazing. I wonder about kids these days. Do they have cool story-books to read (read-along) with before bed? Do they even have the patience to enjoy reading at all? Do they even have time for imaginary friends with all these computer/video games, etc.? Will O.J. ever find the real killers?

I don't know, but I do have to go to sleep.

Zzzzzzzz.... Fricka-fracka- PSP- comin' outta' zzzzzzz... no money... zzz.... We wants it.... zzzzz... Gollum....zzzz... hobbitses stole it from us, Precious.... zzzzz... Gollum.... zzzzz

My Transformer Personality

starscream
You are StarScream!

You are driven, but you lack the charisma and
trustworthness to ever have any true followers

Hell yeah!!!!!! I love Star Scream. He had a great voice and was a sneaky bastard who was always trying to steal the leader-role from Megatron. I just loved his ambitious dream of seeing better things for himself, albeit at the expense of others. I do have a the Decepticon logo on my PC's desktop at the moment (and on my cellphone).... does that mean anything? Perhaps this is a glimpse into my dark side? I am a closet anarchist but, would never take extreme actions to dismantle a functioning system.

My Care Bear Personality

Funshine Bear
You are filled with unlimited energy and extremely resourceful. You like to tackle problems and tasks head-on and you gladly accept any jobs that come along the way. However, you often take on too much and your stubbornness won't allow you to accept help from others. But you're always willing to have a good time!

Man, this is so true. I do take on a lot of stuff at once and I am a stubborn bastard. But, I do have lots of energy and love to share it. I do have issues accepting and asking for help from others. I am Funshine Bear. There, I said it. I am Funshine Bear!

Thanx to Zeebird for this highly accurate quiz.

Holy Shiite Muslims!!!!!

Ouch!!!

All I can say is - most women do this far better than men, but this guy is no slouch.
Varchesis, sadly, cannot do this. Can you?

A Must See Video (Audio optional)

Folks, being male makes you want to do lots of stupid things, but this takes the cake. Watch this video and I swear you'd never know a condom could be so much fun outside the bedroom. I kinda wanna try this myself... I just wonder what brand they were using. Thanks shitkebab (may contain 18+ content)

This video is approved for all ages! Yayyy! If you get offended anyway, piss off.

Guilty Pleasures #1 The Panty

While grazing the net, I found a person who was really adamant about a product that eliminates women's panties or whatever, for that pantiless look that people love so much. Now, I love the pantiless look just like any other male/lesbian but, dammit I am against this, or any, panty-less or thong-less movement. One of my simple sins in life is discovering, albeit secretly, the magic joy of "holy shit, she's wearing blue panties, I would have never gueesed!". And I'll admit, I am not a panty freak by any means, but it's the taboo nature of discovering the panty-view that I love. Of that I am guilty. But these people who want to keep me from my guilty little base enjoyment can go to hell! Let me see that... thong-tha-tha-thong tha-tha-thong!

>>aside - listening to "Shinrikyou" from Hellsing Soundtrack Vol 2 : Ruins. A personal fav, I listen to this soundtrack like every week. World, Jazz, Rock, Electronica, Blues, Piano... you can't go wrong

Do you want a Second Life?

Second Life - Hmmm... looks interesting. Only $9.95 (one time for basic/monthly for premium) and to start your own virtual life in a game that allows you to build your own island, hang with pals or create your own worlds and games (neat). Mac and PC. Imagine the Sims without a leash.. only, you make the expansion packs allowing people to visit or even charge them money if you want.

Looks like people are also making real money (that's U.S. dollars, folks) by making their own special items and membership clubs. There's even a trading value on Second Life money (called Linden L$), which means people are actually trading real money for virtual money to convert that back into real money for profit. This is crazy! Looks kinda serious, tho.

I'd seen this game a couple of years back and gave it no second thoughts but, perhaps that will change. If anything it looks like the awesome virtual chat/game-room I'd spent 4+ hours looking for about a week back. 7 day trial might be a must.

Here's a fun image gallery of the some of the worlds of Second Life (WARNING: may contain 18+ material, just like the game).

Have you ever thought that...

Doesn't Scott Peterson look a helluva lot like Ben Affleck?

I mean, it's kinda creepy. Maybe Ben Affleck was the real Peterson killer and, and... O.J. will really find the true killers one day.

And the Winner is....

Well, those of you who took my quiz didn't do as poorly as I thought you might considering the difficult nature of the questions, but what you may not have known is that you were actually competing to win free iTunes songs.

Here are the final results...

RankNameScore
1 Icydol50
2 I'm gonna ace this quiz40
3 Me40
4 Tomlux30
5 barb30
6 Notorious E.I.C.10

And the clear winner (by one question) is Icydol!
So, good job Icydol. Icydol wins 2 free iTunes songs (thank you Pepsi and Apple) and the first Varkie Award of Excellence.
Thanx to you all for taking my first quiz. Please stay tuned for further quizzes (and prizes) in the future.

X vs. XP : An online guide

Here's a simple site about the differences of Mac OS X and Windows XP. The great thing is it has OS specific commands for handy operations like screen captures, general navigation and more administrative functions like schedulled tasks. It's a good site for those of you who may be wondering how to do common tasks between XP and OS X - very nice tool for a cross OS workspace.

Guess the Dictator or Sit-com Character Stumped

My buddy Rob posted this personality sorter. It really is a great information sorter, actually. Nothing special but, you do get a strange sensation when you feel it's on to your character. Truly, there is no magic involved. But, I stumped it with a relatively well-known but, slightly obscure sidekick from my favorite super-hero show from the 80s.

Who'd have thunk it?

While continuing my search of photos of girls kissing, I noticed this interesting photo. That's Hulk Hogan and his daughter Brooke. Brooke's a country musician - country yuck!

Now, I used to be one hard-core wrestling fan when I was like 12. Oh yeah, Hulk Hogan wanna be all the way, but those days are long over. Had I known that using steroids and running around in satin panties would yield children as pretty as Brooke, well I would have easily decided on a career in wrestling. Ok, I'm fooling nobody here.

Anyway, the Hulkster looks awful proud, tho. And he should be, too. 'Cause he's a real American.

The magic of the Japanese Toilet

So, you thought going to the restroom was relatively the same all over the globe? Think again. In tradional Japanese bathroom toilets, you gotta' aim to win and miss your pants, too. Makes the runs a scary prospect, not to mention how to properly puke into one of these.

Weep, weep, weep

Moving Mannequins?

Are we moving towards the world of cyborgs and cyber-brains as William Gibson envisioned? Perhpaps, but don't be surprised if you see a mannequin turn your way and blow you a kiss in the near future.

The Snow Show

See how international artists and architects spent their creative juices this winter. I must say that Arata Isozaki and Yoko Ono did a wonderful job on their project. Also of note was the project by Tadao Ando and Tatsuo Miyajima.
The Trouble with Cheese

Malcolm Ditwell was tall, as tall as the North Texas Mall.

Sally McVally was small, but not a very small small at all.

But the smallest man of all, was Timothy Vit who was born in a small stall.

Like Malcolm from before, Alice Fallie was tall and that's not all. In houses and buildings, she did nothing but crawl crawl. She'd sit with knees at the ceiling, rolled up in a tall ball.

And, the trouble with cheese is - if you step on it while running, with no thought at all, you've got to be careful or you just might fall, y'all.

My favorite Dr. Seuss story

In honor of Dr. Seuess' birthday (March 2nd), I thought I'd share one of my favorite stories. The Sneetches. It's about the differences between people and how our own fears and misconceptions lead us to make hasty decisions and take rash actions at the expense of our dignity.

Find out what events are going on to celebrate Dr' Seuss' somewhat national birthday - will we see a holiday in the future?
Varchesis wastes evening

Bah! I spent the whole night looking for free games and apps to add to my cellphone. I got a web browser to download and work but no games yet. Very frustrating.
On the brighter side, I did learn to do some WML programming (basically HTML for wireless devices).

Might have a cool new feature for you tomorrow. Stay tuned.
